Telemetry measurement systems for higher requirements

Aviation Applications

Aircrafts

MANNER measuring systems also find an important field of application around 10,000 meters above the earth’s surface. Whether for the vibration analysis of the individual drive components or for temperature measurement on the turbine shovels: With a wide range of measuring applications on the aircraft turbine, MANNER Sensortelemetrie GmbH makes a valuable contribution to energy-efficient aviation. Only by means of modern measurement technology can transport performance be increased while fuel consumption is continually reduced.

In addition to precision and efficiency, the aerospace industry is above all looking for reliability. Because almost nowhere else are safety requirements as high as here. This also applies to the measuring technology of the MANNER company, which has proven itself repeatedly and reliably in many years of use in helicopters and aircraft.

Particularly in the area of landing flaps or helicopter main rotors, operational stability is of enormous importance for safety. Here, where MANNER measuring systems are also used, resistance to temperatures, climatic conditions, air pollution and other expected environmental influences is essential. The extremely compact and low-weight elements of the system guarantee that there is no reaction to the drive edge caused by the installation of the measuring technology. MANNER Sensortelemetrie GmbH cooperates with customers in the aerospace industry worldwide in order to be able to continue successfully meeting the increasing demands on measurement applications.

Telemetry measurement systems aircrafts-Unitedtarget Technology

Airplanes

The aircraft gas turbine in its various designs forms the engine of an aircraft and performs a wide variety of functions. In the most varied designs, adequate measurement technology is required to meet the central significance of the turbine components.

The efficiency of the individual engine components plays an exorbitant role when it comes to increasing transport performance and simultaneously reducing fuel consumption.

Turbine

Turbine

The aircraft turbine is the core component for the power unit of an aircraft. Its characteristic feature is its extremely compact design. This requires special demands on the measurement technology in the engine. In addition to the high speed stability and temperature resistance, an extremely compact design of the measurement technology is absolutely necessary. MANNER meets these requirements and supplies reliable technology for this application. Years of experience in the field of turbine telemetry and the well-founded know-how accumulated in this field make MANNER the partner of your trust.

In the most varied of designs, adequate measurement technology is required to satisfy the central significance of the turbine components.

The efficiencies of the individual drive components play an exorbitant role when it comes to increasing transport performance and simultaneously reducing fuel consumption.

In this context MANNER Sensortelemetrie GmbH offers a wide range of measurement applications on the aircraft turbine:

  • Vibration analysis on turbine shovels (up to 96 channels simultaneously)
  • Temperature measurement on turbine shovels and bearings (up to 400 channels simultaneously)
  • Torques and forces at turbine shaft
  • Radial and axial signal pickup

Flaps

Landing Flap Actuator

High airspeeds and low landing speeds require a high efficiency of the landing flaps. Enormous actuating forces must be generated. The landing flaps are driven electromechanically, hydraulically, hydromechanically, pneumatically or manually as secondary flight control.

The high torque transmission from drive motors to actuators counteracts the forces acting on the landing flaps. This allows the flaps to be locked in a pre-set angular position to the wing.

MANNER Sensortelemetrie GmbH cooperates with customers in the aerospace industry worldwide to realize most accurate measurements of the drive torques at variable axial forces of the actuators. The sensortelemetrically obtained measurement data helps our partners with further calculations and adjustments regarding power losses, efficiency, functional reliability, service life, strength, temperature influences, etc. The easy-to-install applications are manufactured by us for test or flight operation, as desired. MANNER also provides the necessary technical flight qualification for flight operations.

Helicopter

Helicopters, the supreme discipline of aviation. Especially with such complex aircraft as helicopters, the safety with which the measuring systems record data and their reliability is of the greatest importance.

The data is often collected for Health and Usage Monitoring (HUMS) systems or for the development of new systems. These systems ensure the flight performance of the device.

MANNER telemetry systems are extremely reliable and fail-safe. Combined with the robustness of our technology we are the partner of trust when it comes to helicopters.

Whether for the development and design of new helicopters or for monitoring mast torques and temperatures in series models, with MANNER you can rely on outstanding quality and excellent service!

Main Rotor

Main Rotor

A main rotor with two or more blades ensures lift, propulsion and control of a helicopter by its rotation. It is usually driven by a power plant (engine) via a reduction gear.

The rotors have to cope with dynamic forces which constantly change in strength and direction of attack. Rotor telemetries from MANNER are used worldwide to successfully measure the constantly changing loads. It is particularly important that our proven sensor telemetry has strengths with regard to temperatures, climatic conditions, air pollution and other expected environmental influences. The electronics of the multi-channel telemetry for the main rotor is manufactured in miniaturized form and can therefore be accommodated in the rotor head or rotor shaft in an extremely space-saving way.

So far, our rotor measuring systems are used for the successful realization of the following measurements:

  • Measurement of the dynamic bending moment at the main rotor shaft
  • Recording of the strains on rotor blades
  • Vibration measurements on rotor blades
  • Vectorial torque measurement during load changes (e.g. during helicopter transport and rescue operations on mountain slopes)
  • Measurements on rotor test stands

Tail Rotor

Tail Rotor

The tail rotor is used to balance the torque generated by the main rotor. Furthermore, the tail rotor acts to control the helicopter around the so-called yaw axis, also called vertical axis.

MANNER Sensortelemetrie GmbH develops measurement applications for unencapsulated and encapsulated tail rotors. Customers worldwide trust in our competence in this field. Based on our non-contact sensor telemetry, essential information about dynamic torques, compression and tension forces, speeds, temperatures, etc. is gained. On the one hand, our systems are used for testing in special rotor test benches, on the other hand they withstand the most adverse environmental conditions in rough flight operations.

MANNER sensor telemetry for tail rotors is successfully used to collect precise data for the following measuring tasks:

  • Torque at rotor shaft
  • Rotor blade vibrations
  • Bearing temperatures
